Be Visible on the Road!

  • When it’s dark outside and you’re on foot, pin a reflector to the right side of your outer clothing, approximately 50–70 cm high.
  • When you are walking on the road or its shoulder, always walk on the left side (towards opposing traffic).
  • If your reflector is damaged, replace it.

Use only certified reflectors. Non-certified reflectors may not reflect enough light and a driver may not notice you before it’s too late. Reflectors are required to meet the European Union EN 13356 standard. Reflective vests must meet EN 471 and EN 1150 safety standards.

Don’t forget, with the exception of those areas designated for stopping, a motorist who has been forced to stop when its dark is required to wear a bright-coloured vest with light-reflecting elements, or have a reflector clipped to his or her clothing.
