Could you imagine your life without fire? Probably the response would be “yes”, because it seems that nowadays open fire has gone from the majority of our lives.
Homes are most often heated by radiators; food is cooked on electric stoves or in microwaves. However, actually fire lurks everywhere, only in most cases it appears very unexpectedly and, unfortunately, brings painful consequences. It could deprive of property or even life.
It is important to develop a habit
Knowledge as well as habits are needed so that your family could be safe. Due to this, keep in mind:
- talk to your children about the danger of fire since infancy;
- get the children involved through your personal example – when leaving, check together with them whether all electric appliances and gas cooker have been switched off and the fire is not burning in the grate.
Good order
Every item has its intended use and place. However, quite often unnecessary articles, old newspapers or clothes accumulate at home. It is therefore good to remember that:
- a safe place needs to be found for unnecessary newspapers, old belongings and clothes no longer being worn – as far from the sources of fire as possible;
- never hang the washing to dry in the vicinity of fire.
It is particularly important to be cautious at home with candles, to install and operate stoves and fireplaces safely. Therefore:
- do not place candles close to curtains or in places where they could fall; do not forget to blow them out;
- watch for any cracking through which embers or burning wood could fall out from the fireplace;
- do not use any combustible materials in the immediate vicinity of fireplace or stove; lay the floor with ceramic tiles, marble or metal.
